FAQ About Feline Veterinary Care

What should I bring to my cat’s vet appointment?

Please bring your cat in a secure carrier along with any medical records, current medications, and vaccination history. Additionally, please bring any of your cat’s favorite toys or treats to help with distraction and rewards during the visit.

How often should my cat see the vet?

We recommend annual exams for healthy adult cats. Kittens need exams at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks of age for vaccinations and boosters. We also recommend spaying or neutering at around 6 months of age. For cats over the age of 7, bi-annual exams and bloodwork are advised to monitor for early health changes. Additionally, any cat on long-term medications should have bloodwork performed twice a year to ensure ongoing wellness.

Do you provide emergency care for cats?

We understand that pets don’t always follow a schedule, so we offer same-day vet appointments in Hershey whenever possible. Our goal is to provide timely, professional care for pets who require prompt attention, without the stress of waiting days to be seen. If your pet is sick, in discomfort, or you simply need to be seen quickly, call us at 717-534-2244. Same-day appointments are subject to availability, so calling early helps us reserve a spot.

If we’re unable to accommodate your pet, we’ll direct you to the closest emergency clinic in the area. For after-hours urgent care, we recommend contacting Hershey Animal Emergency Center or Shores Veterinary Emergency Center.
